This Ministry of Care is a service offered to people at vulnerable and painful times in their lives. The person who cares for the sick and shut-in needs to have specific qualities and gifts, including a listening presence, compassion and empathy, a non-judgmental mindset, confidentiality, a gentle demeanor and commitment to continuous spiritual development.

Throughout the history of the Church, the ministry to the homebound has been a major part of the works of mercy in parish life. Serving the homebound and sick is a ministry. As such, it's important that ministers not act on their own, but on behalf of the Church.

There are many different ways you can help with the Homebound Ministry:

  • Take Holy Communion to people in their homes
  • Write cards and letters offering encouragement and pray
  • Birthday/Anniversary cards
  • Phone calls to parishioners on the prayer list, the sick, and the elderly
  • Contact widows and widowers after some time has passed
  • Offer a listening ear to those who may be lonely

As our mission statement states, we hold sacred the dignity of every human life. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ to the hurting soul. If you would like to assist with this ministry, please contact Mary at the number below.

Trying to support a friend or family member while they are going through a major life transition can be challenging; we sometimes don't know what to do. Our own joys and sorrows teach us that a well-timed meal delivered by a friend is one of the best gifts imaginable. This ministry simplifies meal coordination so friends can show they care. Volunteers will prepare and deliver a meal to others in need; such as a new mom, a friend with a sick child, or a family member who is undergoing surgery.

You don't have to suffer alone. Stephen Ministers are specially trained men and women who provide one-to-one Christian care to people in our parish and the community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministry is confidential and free to those who need help. The identity of those receiving care and everything they discuss with a Stephen Minister remains private.
